Situation-
After the coalition secured an alliance with the River queen during operation Autumn Justice 4, the Ubesbekistani Provisional Government (UPG) was created. The UPG set about reconstruction and tribal negotiations in advance of a constitutional committee and the pending October 2012 Elections. The coalition in conjunction with the UPG, immediately began to rebuild the country, pouring billions of dollars of aid into the tiny nation in exchange for long term, no-bid contracts. NGOs were rapidly swamped by the deluge of aid, and the Red Cross/Red Crescent brought in private contractors- as did the various construction and energy firms. Most notably, US firm AMENERGY (NYSE-AMNR- ^15.6%) has a small private army at its disposal to ward off threat to their facilities. Security was recently beefed up as AMENERGY’s CEO, Ken Long is in country on a weeklong tour of their new facilities. AMENERGY’s stock prices have climbed this week on the news that the firm recently acquired all mineral mining rights, from the old Mine Shaft, to the Liquid Natural Gas pipeline and pump systems, to the aging Oil Rig.
The changes in the capital of Ubesbekibad are quite noticeable- the Bank has been re-opened, cafes are slowly starting to recover, and residents can be seen on the streets trading in the square by the reconstructed Embassy. But out into the countryside locals are still reeling from the prolonged conflicts, and feel that the UPG is at worst corrupt, or at best unable to meet their needs. Unrest in the countryside is growing and brigand attacks on the roads are spiking. Recently, coalition forces have made some tone deaf moves- some soldiers have been reported stealing from locals, locals have been detained without warrant or reason- and the population’s unrest is growing. Rumors of a coup lead by sympathetic members of the Ubesbekistani defense Forces (UDF) have been heard throughout the province.
